Presidents Message

The Orange Show is run and organised for families and this year we have a new addition to our family. Krystal and Chris Ross welcomed a beautiful baby boy on the 16th February this year. His name is Xavier Christopher Ross. His grandparents Judy and Rosco and well as great grandparents Patricia and George are always ready to give Xavier a cuddle. We congratulate them all and hope they get a chance to enjoy the show together.

This year we are excited to have our new pavilion opened on Saturday afternoon after the grand parade. The new building has been in the planning stages for many years and it is wonderful that we are able to use it for the first time this year. I would like to thank the Orange City Council and staff for their planning. Many stewards including the arts and school sections have decided to move to new new area to display their exhibits with more room and flair. The I.W.A. Wrestling will be housed in the pavilion. This is the first time that we have had this attraction at the Orange Show for patrons to enjoy. It is a very large area and we plan to fill it with new attractions and exhibits.

The older Williams, Dalton and Agricultural pavilions will retain many of the origin exhibits as the stewards felt that their sections were more at home there. These include the historical society, wool, vegetable, arts and craft, photography, flowers, cakes and a few new exhibits. So the show ground will have a new feel and plan this year so take a different route and you will discover something that you haven’t seen before.

As many of you know last year our secretary Marg Kennedy was unable to come into the office as she was very ill with Motor Neuron Disease. We were very fortunate that her daughter Rachael offered to help. We were very greatful for their hard work and commitment. Unfortunately Marg lost her battle a few weeks after the show. I would like to offer our condolences to Peter and all the family.

We have the Brophy Circus attending for the 2 days of the show. On Saturday we have cattle, birds, dogs, horse section as well as many other attractions. Sunday sees the beaut utes and the pet show as well as sideshow alley both days.

We would like to welcome our new secretary Chris Parks to our team. He has been a wonderful addition to the committee. Button Dunn has worked tirelessly to ensure that the office runs smoothly over the transition period of secretary changeover. We are very greatful for her knowledge and willing help. Amy Carr is our new steward for the show girl competition. She would love to hear from any young woman who may be interested or has any questions about the competition.

Come and enjoy the show, have a look around and offer your opinion and help. We are always in need of new interested helpers. There is a lot to learn and a lot to enjoy. See you at the show.
